PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Do you ever have back or neck pain? Are you fatigued at the end of your day or have trouble sleeping without feeling “old” when you wake up? Do you know how to adapt your body mechanics to operate more efficiently in your work environment? Proper body mechanics and functional skills help prevent all of the above issues. This interactive seminar provides tools for you to learn how to sit, stand, bend, walk, breathe, move and sleep and how all of this affects your fatigue and energy levels. When you understand how your posture affects your well being, gain some skills in how to control your body, you have the ability to work strength and function into your daily routine to exercise as you move! This action packed seminar covers body mechanics for daily living, in your work environment, and in your recreational or sports activities. Handouts are provided on alignment exercises, giving you an active stretching routine to help you manage your body during your workday. Learning and using these routines will give you the skills to change your symptoms should discomfort occur. You will learn how to adapt your body to your specific work situation. You’ll also gain skills to help you improve the quality of your workouts! This lifestyle program will get you back to the activities you enjoy while managing your symptoms. This program is aimed at the intermediate skill level. FACULTY: Terry Roach, M.Ed., is a Registered Kinesiotherapist and President of Body Stabilization Training, Inc., a physical therapy and kinesiotherapy facility in Phoenix, Arizona, which specializes and back and neck rehabilitation. Ms. Roach is a multi-World and National Masters Track Cycling champion. She is an expert in body mechanics and functional skills. Her focus is on re-educating people on how to move at home, at work, and in sport environments to decrease the chance of injury and improve performance within their realm. Ms. Roach has given educational and ergonomic seminars to fitness professionals, therapists, dentists, nurses, firefighters, doctors, surgeons, construction workers, and professional athletes. Her most requested topics are back and neck care, and injury prevention. In this industry since 1984, and in private practice since 1991, “Terry’s Body Stabilization Training” program has evolved over the years based on her own afflictions with a back surgery, 3 level neck fusion, and recovery from multiple serious bicycle crashes. After those injuries she was able to return to Velodrome racing successfully. She understands how to modify all situations to get you back to an active lifestyle and enjoy quality of life. Application of BST Concepts in Work Environment 4:30 PM Program Closure and Evaluation INTENDED AUDIENCE: All health care employees. CE STATEMENTS: The Southwest Health Professions Education Center, Inc. (SEC) certifies this program for 6 contact hours. A certificate of attendance will be awarded.
REGISTRATION FEES:
Registration fee is $125.00. Fee for full-time VA employees is
$18.00. Includes continental breakfast, break refreshments, and
course material. Refunds, minus a $15.00 processing fee, will
be made until three days prior to the program. No refunds will
be made after this date.
There will a $20.00
processing fee for any returned checks. Credit card
