PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS: Morning Session: Cone Beam Imaging - It’s Here! This program will review the specifics of image acquisition with Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and then present the multiple venues in which this technology facilitates the diagnostic process in dentistry. The program will mainly present cutting edge applications of this technology, and diagnostic benefits in orthodontic and pathologic patient evaluations. It will also include a brief presentation on how CBCT facilitates implant treatment planning. Afternoon Session: What do I recognize on Digital Panoramic and Intraoral Images? This is a “hands-on” practical review course designed primarily for dental hygienists and chairside assistants. Intraoral anatomy and technique evaluation of images will be reviewed with an interactive methodology. The program gets participants actively involved in the curriculum and this facilitates their learning of the course contents. The program will focus on identification of anatomic landmarks and how to use knowledge of these landmarks when reviewing and mounting images. There will also be a focus on recognizing technique errors and how to correct them. FACULTY: Kenneth Abramovitch, DDS, MS, is an Associate Professor and Head of the Oral Radiology Section in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine.
