PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program will present an overview of the treatment of eating disorders, using case examples and videotapes of clinical sessions. The program will cover ten topics which are critical to the successful treatment of eating disorders. There will be discussion of assessment techniques, managing resistance, philosophical approaches, and family issues. Excerpts of actual therapy sessions will be presented, which can then be deconstructed in order for participants to gain insights into the practical use of theoretical ideas regarding treatment of eating disorders. This program will provide practical and useful information to take back to your offices or clinics and use with your clients. This program is aimed at the intermediate skill level. FACULTY: Carolyn Costin, MA, MEd, MFT, CEDS, specializes in the treatment of anorexia, bulimia and exercise addiction. Ms. Costin is founder and director of The Eating Disorder Center of California, Monte Nido, and RainRock Residential Treatment Centers. She has thirty years of expertise in the field of eating disorders and is a frequent keynote speaker at conferences such as NEDA, IAEDP and AED. Ms. Costin’s books, The Eating Disorder Source Book, and Your Dieting Daughter, have helped professionals and the lay public in understanding, treating and preventing eating disorders. In January 2007, her new book 100 Questions and Answers About Eating Disorders was released. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
