CARE for CAREGIVERS
(09CG)

December 4, 2009
8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Hassayampa Inn
122 E. Gurley Street
Prescott, Arizona

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The health care environment is becoming an increasingly stressful place to work.  This program is designed for those people who want to find ways of managing their lives and stress more effectively, and who are ready to take charge of their lives.  You will be challenged to experience specific techniques to protect yourself from too much stress.  Coping with stress and burnout in the work world and home environment involves balancing the body, mind and spirit.  You will be exposed to principles that are applicable to you, the caregiver.  These helpful strategies can easily be taught to your clients or patients.  However, this process has to start with you!

FACULTY:  Leonard J. Dumonceaux, MD, has taught this “Care for Caregiver” program for SEC, numerous times through the years, as our “end-the-year-on-a-positive-note”. He first taught this training for SEC in 1993. Dr. Dumonceaux currently provides psychotherapy to help people "stop smoking" and to help them with "personal growth".   From 1990 to 1999, he was employed at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System in Prescott, Arizona, and for eight of those years was the Medical Director of and Psychiatrist for the thirty-bed substance abuse rehabilitation unit.  Dr. Dumonceaux has practiced for 54 years in general medicine, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, administration and occupational medicine.  He is a well-received seminar leader on stress management and innovative methods in counseling and psychotherapy.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:  At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • determine your need for self-care and setting self-imposed limits,

  • develop an understanding of how your mind works,
