PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS: Complete Denture Construction: Rehabilitation of completely edentulous patients presents a wealth of challenges to the restorative clinician. This segment presents complete denture fabrication techniques for normal and abnormal maxillary/mandibular relationship. From the initial visit to the delivery of the prosthesis and follow up appointments - each step will be explained in detail. Problems and solutions to constructing techniques, as well as clinical difficulties will be presented. Removable Partial Denture Design: This second segment will present the clinical principles and guidelines in designing a removable partial denture. From tooth preparation to obtaining the final impressions and seating of the appliance - each step will be covered in depth. The participants will have the opportunity to propose different designs for various clinical scenarios. Prosthodontic Principles: This last segment will explain common prosthodontic procedures and their technique’s rationales. Articulator selection, anterior guidance philosophy, predictable impression results, occlusal schemes, color concepts, and other topics will be discussed. In addition, basic prosthodontic tips that bring advanced results will be presented. This section is applicable for recent graduates as well as laboratory technicians who would like to enhance their understanding of prosthodontic procedures. FACULTY: Dai C. Phan, DDS, MS, BS, is currently a staff Maxillofacial Prosthodontist at WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Phan has completed General Practice Residency and Advanced Education in General Dentistry followed by a prosthodontic residency with a Masters of Science. He was a Fellow in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and was an assistant professor of prosthodontics at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. Dr. Phan is an avid mentor for students seeking careers in dentistry, and he frequently lectures in a variety of dental topics. (SEC) certifies this program for 6 contact hours. A certificate of attendance will be awarded. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Employee Education System is an ADA-CERP Recognized Provider. The formal continuing education programs of this sponsor are accepted by AGD for Fellowship/Mastership credit. The current term of acceptance extends from December 2005-December 2009. This program has been approved for 6 contact hours. REGISTRATION: Registration fee is $175.00 for dentists, $114.00 for all other dental professionals. Fee for full-time VA employees is $18.00. Includes continental breakfast, break refreshments, and course material. Credit card registrations may be faxed to (928) 776-6137. Registration is not complete until payment received. Space is limited so please register early. Refunds, minus a $15 processing fee, will be made until 3 days prior to the program. No refunds will be made after this date.
