PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program considers the various elements of culture, their impact on social perception and intercultural communication, and potential means by which differences in cultural identity may be overcome. Attendees will participate in a number of assessments to identify their own cultural values, deepen self-awareness, and become familiar with those areas of identity that may most degrade intercultural interaction. In addition, attendees will be offered simple tools with which to mitigate group differences so as to avoid inequity of care, treatment, and service. This program is aimed at the intermediate skill level. FACULTY: Donna Redman, Ph.D., is currently the director of the Adult Health & Development Program in the Gerontology Program at the Arizona State University West Campus.
